My first Substack Live Cook-a-long, and a preview of Autumn Bristol Fire School dates
Greetings lovely subscribers!
So……
Sat July 1st - 5.30pm - shall we cook together?
Whilst I’m not quite ready to share any of the new recipes from the fish book I’ve been working on, I was quite excited when someone suggested I cook fish and salad for the first live cook-a-long session. It feels more like fish and salad season than steak season to me. And mackerel are pretty darn hot right now so I’ve taken a couple of recipes from my Wood Fired Oven Cook Book and adapted them for the barbecue.
I’ve never done a cook-a-long thingy by myself so it may, as is my usual cooking style, be a little chaotic. But actually in the end we will muddle through and end up with something good to eat. I guess I hope it will feel a little like having me come and cook in your garden? Perhaps optimistic? Figure on a hour of your time.
This is what I’m planning to cook:
Barbecued mackerel, hasselback potatoes, grilled ratatouille
