Greetings Fire Friends, and a very big welcome to Stuff That Fires Me Up!
My brand new newsletter, a twice a month short read designed to genuinely help you get better at cooking with live fire.
Some of you already know me because you have attended a class at Bristol Fire School (hello, old friend), but many of you know me from instagram as @GenevieveEats
You’ll still find me loving instagram as a platform for sharing what I’m up to, but as a writer I have a genuine love of playing with words. I sometimes get frustrated the instagram algorithm often favours flippancy and laughs over serious educational, useful content. I will keep at making reels over there in the hope that they are helpful for those that find them but this newsletter will be the place I share the detail, the nitty gritty science, the facts and the knowledge I have built up over many years of cooking with live fire. I hope it will be (mostly) sensible and grownup. Although there may be occasional bit of swearing because they too are words, and sometimes they fit the bill. And they can be truly excellent for emphasis, right?
My driver here is to create a fire cooking community, a place where my expertise lands DIRECTLY into you inbox, you won’t need to seek it out. A platform where you can leave comments and interact, whether you are a novice or a BBQ-pro, there is room for us all to learn. I will help you be the best fire cook you can be, bust the (many) myths out there, create a macho free space that we can all thrive together. And that’s everyone regardless of gender, race, sexuality. Cooking with fire is the original way, it makes us human, and we all have this passion within us should we choose it.
The twice a month newsletter will be free for all subscribers, you need to nothing more than open the email, read and enjoy it, comment and share it. This is what you can expect:
A quick 5-10 minute twice a month read featuring:
‘But why?’ Myth busting and fire science geekiness (this is what will help you be better at BBQ and fire)
A recipe or two a month - some will be original, some will come from my previous books (well, I have written 13 and have a huge back catalogue to play with)
A top subscriber ‘Question of the Month’ - email me your question and I will pick one to answer for the following newsletter
Kit and gadgets I love… ps. I don’t really like gadgets, my love for fire cooking is it’s beautifully analogue nature, so I won’t be spamming you into buying stuff you don’t need. But that said there are a few things that I find indispensable.
In addition to the regular free stuff there will be an opportunity to pay a small subscription (£4 a month, or £40 a year (a bargain at £3.33 a month!), no ongoing obligation, cancellable at any time) which will help support my work and allow me to grow this community.
As a paid subscribers you will get additional access such as:
Occasional live Zoom masterclasses which are be great for those that want to come to Bristol Fire School but live too far away or can’t stretch to a full class fee (basically a bloody billy bargain way to learn from me)
Behind the scenes content, get to know me and my work processes, how I write recipes, where I teach Bristol Fire School
Maybe the odd playlist, music rocks my world and I love almost every genre
Access to Q&A sessions, ask me a question and I shall answer
‘A minute with’ - interviews with my fave chefs and fire cooks. Tongue in cheek, cheeky funny chats with my pals basically. The gossip and the low down, the things they are up to, the books they are writing
Occasional discount links to products I genuinely love
Thanks so much for reading, I hope you’ll stay for the ride!
Big love,
GT
