A fishy excursion
I write this little letter to you whilst in Cornwall on a short book research trip to see my pal Simon Stallard. Si is perhaps best known for the Hidden Hut, a rather fab low key cafe on the cliff, and for the feast nights on the beach below the hut and for the pretty awesome fact he cooked for the G7 summit a couple of summers ago. Basically he’s a fire cooking god and always so kind and generous with his time. He also owns and runs The Standard Inn, which is where I’m writing to you right now. Beer in hand, obvs.
There are loads of things I love about writing books but a big one is the privilege of delving deep into research and getting to meet and chat to such interesting people; growers, farmers, suppliers, scientists, chefs. Only by talking to the experts can I write you the book I am trying to write, so I’m really grateful for their, and Simon’s, time on my current little foray.
